What Is Nissan Brake Assist?

The Nissan Brake Assist (or BA, also sometimes called the Nissan Brake Assist System, or NBAS) is a system available on many of Nissan's models that can help reduce stopping distances during emergencies. The system detects when the driver is panic braking based on the speed and force with which the pedal is applied, and automatically increases pedal pressure. This activates the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) systems earlier, resulting in stopping distances up to 10-15% shorter than vehicles not equipped with the system.
