Crew cab trucks are designed to haul people along with cargo and are prized by families and contractors alike for their ability to stand in as daily drivers and troop transporters whether your final destination is soccer practice or the job site. Not all crew cab trucks are created equal when it comes to how much room they have to offer their up-to-6 passengers, which is why we put together this list of the biggest crew cab trucks. We had to choose one particular measurement to use as our yardstick, so we went with rear leg room, figuring not getting crushed behind the driver is the most important characteristic of any 2-row vehicle. Let's take a quick look at 8 of the biggest crew cab pickups available, based on rear leg room.

1) 2016 Ford F-150 SuperCrew — 43.6 inches

The 2016 Ford F-150 SuperCrew leads the fullsize crew cab truck pack in terms of overall leg room. There are 43.6 inches of rear leg room to be had in the Ford F-150 SuperCrew, which is almost as much as the front passengers are afforded. You also get 65.9 inches of shoulder room with the pickup, as well as 40.4 inches of headroom and 64.7 inches of hip room.

2) 2016 Ram 3500 Mega Cab — 43.3 inches

Next up on our list of the biggest crew cab trucks is a true monster, the 2016 RAM 3500 Mega Cab. Let's face it: if you use the word “Mega” to describe you vehicle, then you better back it up, and the Ram 3500 certainly does with 43.3 inches of rear leg room, 63.2 inches of rear hip room, and 40.3 inches of back seat head room.  There's also 65.7 inches of rear shoulder room, which is just a touch less than is found in the F-150. Another plus about the Mega Cab design are its rear doors, which are generously sized to make it easy to get in and out of the pickup.

3) 2016 Toyota Tundra Crewmax — 42.3 inches

The 2016 Toyota Tundra Crewmax snags the third spot in our biggest crew cab truck roundup, posting rear leg room of 42.3 inches. This is almost a match for front riders, who get 0.2 inches more space. You'll notice by now that there's not a lot separating the leaders in the segment, with a spread of just over an inch separating the trio at the top. The Toyota Tundra Crewmax also features 38.9 inches of rear head room, 60.4 inches of rear hip room, and 65.5 inches of rear shoulder room (nearly matching the class-king F-150).

4) 2016 Ford Super Duty Crew Cab — 42.1 inches

Ford's second entry on this list — the 2015 Ford Super Duty Crew Cab — is possible due to the fact that its heavy duty trucks feature a separate body style from its light duty models. The Ford Super Duty Crew Cab boasts 42.1 inches of rear leg room, which is somewhat less than the Ram 3500 Mega Cab it's up against in the near-commercial segment. Helping even things out is an enormous 68 inches of rear shoulder room along with 67.6 inches of rear hip room, which is top amongst any of the vehicles in this list. Head room for the Super Duty checks in at 40.8 inches. It's worth nothing that the Ford's rear seat measurements match or beat its front seat equivalents in every category except for leg room.

5) 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab — 40.9 inches

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab — and its platform twin, the GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab — finds itself in the middle of the pack with its 40.9 inches of rear leg room. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab also puts in a below-average hip room performance of 60.3 inches, but its shoulder room (65.7 inches) and head room (40.5 inches) are quite respectable. The Silverado risks being left behind in the crew cab wars if its next generation (which is still a ways off) doesn’t bring bolder measurements.

6) 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cab — 40.3 inches

You can't get a Mega Cab version of the 2016 RAM 1500, which means you have to stick with the smaller Crew Cab. In fact, the Ram 1500 Crew Cab features the second-least amount of rear leg room of any fullsize crew cab pickup: 40.3 inches.  Taking a look at the Ram's other vital statistics reveals a similarly under-sized story, with hip room at the rear showing as 63.2 inches and head room being listed at 39.9 inches. Shoulder room is the only measurement where the Ram remains competitive, with an advertised 65.7 inches.

7) 2016 Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab — 38.5 inches

The 2016 Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab is a recently redesigned truck that made its already-tight rear accommodations even tighter. The Nissan Titan Crew Cab barely keeps up with its class by way of its 38.5 inches of rear leg room. The Titan can also be counted on for 63.6 inches of rear shoulder room, and 60.3 inches of rear hip room. The Nissan also provides 40.4 inches of rear head room.

8) 2017 Honda Ridgeline — 36.7 inches

The recently reintroduced 2017 Honda Ridgeline isn't a true fullsize truck — it's more of a midsize contender — but we're including it to illustrate the size difference between this 4-door pickup and larger models. The Honda Ridgeline enjoys only 36.7 inches of leg room in the rear, which is more than four inches less than front passengers are provided with. It also features 61.5 inches of rear shoulder room, a small 56.6 inches of rear hip room, and rear head room that dips down to 38.8 inches. Given that the Ridgeline is often considered by those looking more for passenger comfort than overall utility, these numbers give one pause and point to the better all-around hauling characteristics of larger trucks.
