The Subaru XV Crosstrek is an entry-level compact crossover vehicle based on the same platform as the Impreza hatchback.  The four-door Subaru XV Crosstrek can seat up to five passengers, and it comes with a list of safety features that includes electronic stability control, forward airbags, seat-mounted front-side airbags, a driver's knee airbag, and side curtain airbags.

The Subaru XV Crosstrek is motivated by a 148 horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.  Also capable of providing 145 lb-ft of torque, this unit sends its output to all-four wheels (all-wheel drive is standard) via either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously-variable automatic.  The Crosstrek's posts fuel mileage numbers of 23-mpg in stop and go driving and 30-mpg on the highway.

The base Subaru XV Crosstrek 2.0i Premium (MSRP $21,995) offers power windows and door locks, heated seats, and 17-inch wheels.  The Crosstrek 2.0i Limited (MSRP $24,495) adds an upgraded stereo system, automatic climate control, leather seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Similar models include the Nissan Juke, Ford Escape and Mitsubishi Outlander.
