New Car Rebates and Incentives: May 24, 2012

This week our list of the best new car and new truck rebates and incentives currently available is a bit of a grab bag, highlighting a pair of crossovers, an SUV, a minivan, and a luxury sedan for good measure.  Kicking things off is the 2012 Ford Edge mid-size crossover, which can be had with zero percent financing plus $3,250 in cash back.  Following the Edge is the 2012 Buick LaCrosse mid-size sedan which features the choice between 1.9% financing plus $500 or $1,500 in total cash back.  The 2012 Nissan Quest minivan comes with a zero percent financing or $2,750 cash back offer, while the 2012 GMC Yukon XL full-size SUV posts available 0.0% financing or $2,000 in factory cash rebates.  Rounding things out is the 2012 Lincoln MKT full-size crossover and its zero percent financing or $1,000 cash back offer.

2012 Ford Edge

The 2012 Ford Edge is a mid-size crossover vehicle that offers five-passenger seating, 69 cubic feet of total cargo space and the availability of features such as the SYNC multimedia and communications interface, the MyKey parental control system and even a panoramic sunroof.

The 2012 Ford Edge is equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 as its base engine, and this unit is good for 285 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque.  A 2.0-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder rated at 240 horses and 270 lb-ft of torque is also available, and like the entry-level Edge, it is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.  The Edge Sport keeps the six-speed gearbox but swaps in a 3.7-liter V-6 that offers up 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.  All-wheel drive is optional with the crossover, and the EcoBoost model returns the most impressive fuel mileage (21-mpg city and 30-mpg highway).

2012 Buick LaCrosse

The 2012 Buick LaCrosse is a large mid-size sedan that provides a heaping helping of premium features to help bolster its status as an attainable luxury car.  The Buick LaCrosse offers one of the nicest interiors in the GM family of vehicles, and it also provides a quiet, well-insulated driving experience that stops well short of being numb or detached.

The 2012 Buick LaCrosse starts out with mild hybrid power in the form of a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder eAssist drivetrain that makes use of a small battery-powered motor to produce 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque while delivering fuel economy of 25-mpg city and 36-mpg highway.  Also available is a 3.6-liter V-6 that can be relied on to produce 303 ponies and 264 lb-ft of torque alongside fuel mileage of 17-mpg around town and 27-mpg highway.  A six-speed automatic is standard with each engine.

2012 Nissan Quest

The 2012 Nissan Quest is a seven-passenger minivan that can also accommodate 108 cubic feet of cargo with the final two rows out of the picture.  The Nissan Quest provides a comfortable yet sporty ride compared with some of its minivan competitors, and it can be had with a fairly high level of equipment when ordered in the top-of-the-line model.

The 2012 Nissan Quest is motivated by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that furnishes 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, managed by a continuously-variable automatic transmission.  The Quest comes exclusively in front-wheel drive trim and it provides fuel economy of 19-mpg in stop and go driving and 24-mpg on the highway.

2012 GMC Yukon XL

The 2012 GMC Yukon XL is the single largest sport-utility vehicle manufactured by the truck-oriented brand.  The GMC Yukon XL rides on an extended wheelbase that offers up exceptional passenger room for as many as nine passengers, but perhaps more importantly it also makes available an astounding 137.4 cubic feet of total storage space.

The 2012 GMC Yukon XL is initially outfitted with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 320 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque on its way to fuel mileage numbers of 14-mpg city and 20-mpg highway.  Opting for the plush Denali trim substitutes a 6.2-liter, eight-cylinder motor for the base unit, and this larger mill brings with it 403 horses, 417 lb-ft of torque, and a fuel economy rating of 12-mpg around town and 19-mpg highway.  The standard Yukon XL can be ordered with a four-wheel drive system while the Denali makes all-wheel drive available, and each is shifted via a six-speed automatic.

2012 Lincoln MKT

The 2012 Lincoln MKT is a full-size luxury crossover that shows off distinctive front end styling and also leverages a significant level of high tech features in its quest to attract potential buyers.  The Lincoln MKT also provides seven passenger seating and the ability to transport 76 cubic feet of gear with rows two and three out of the picture.

The 2012 Lincoln MKT is offered with a pair of engine options.  The first is a 268 horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 that can also be counted on to produce 267 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with the base motor - as is front-wheel drive - and fuel mileage shows as 17-mpg city and 23-mpg highway.  The MKT EcoBoost comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 that makes use of twin turbochargers to grind out a hefty 355 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque.  All-wheel drive comes free of charge with the MKT EcoBoost (as is a six-speed autobox), and fuel economy checks in at 16-mpg city and 21-mpg highway.
