GM's Front Automatic Braking system, available in the 2014 Buick Regal, has helped the car earn a "Superior" grade in recent testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The technology can detect potential forward collisions, provide warnings to the driver, and, if necessary, automatically engage the brakes of the 2014 Buick Regal in an attempt to prevent an impact.

The IIHS honor is in addition to the 2014 Buick Regal's 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and also is further evidence of the Buick brand's comprehensive approach to occupant protection. And so is the fact that, along with Front Automatic Braking, the 2014 Buick Regal also offers standard and available safety content including:

  • A rear-vision camera system
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Lane-change alert
  • Side blind-zone alert
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Six airbags

Additionally, although the IIHS has yet to put the 2014 Buick Regal through the highly challenging small front-overlap crash test, meaning the Regal is not yet eligible for Top Safety Pick+ status, the car has received the highest possible grades in Institute testing for moderate front-overlap impacts, side impacts, roof strength and safety performance of its head restraints and seats.

Joining the 2014 Buick Regal with "Superior" grades in IIHS front-crash prevention testing were the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, 2014 Cadillac CTS and 2014 Cadillac XTS.
