2012 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R-Spec: Video Road Test and Review

The Genesis 5.0 R-Spec is a four door five passenger high performance luxury sedan powered by a direct injected 5.0 Liter V8 that produces 429 HP and 376 lb-ft of torque being sent straight to the rear wheels via an eight speed Shiftronic automatic gearbox that gets an estimated 16 MPG in the city and as much as 25 MPG on the highway.  This makes the R-Spec the most powerful Genesis in all of Hyundai’s economical luxury lineup.

The top of the line Genesis sedan is easily recognizable by its bespoke R-Spec badging and dark chrome headlight inserts, as well as the 19 inch 10 spoke premium alloys housing a sport tuned suspension.  The R-Spec also gets HID headlamps with LED accents, chrome trim, rain sensing windshield wipers, power tilt/slide glass sunroof and a proximity key with push button start.

On the inside the R-Spec gets bespoke floor mats, ultra premium leather wrapped memory position seating, more hide for the power tilt and telescoping steering wheel as well as the leather wrapped dash and door trim.  Infotainment duties are handled by a 17 speaker Lexicon premium sound system with in dash six disc DVD changer, Sirius XM Satellite radio and NavTraffic, HD Radio as well as USB and auxiliary inputs all being controlled via the 8 inch ultimate navigation system with built in rearview camera display; not to mention the Bluetooth hands free connectivity that comes standard as well as the Korean automaker’s biggest selling point a 100,000 mile warranty.
