Autobytel recently attended the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, and today, Editor-in-Chief Michelle Naranjo is talking about the Fab Five SUVs. There are some familiar favorites among the best SUVs at this year’s show, but the updates to these vehicles are worth the fanfare. First we’re taking a look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is is Autobytel’s SUV of the Year for 2014. We’ve heard that next year, the Grand Cherokee might get a new name, the Trackhawk, but regardless of what it’s called, we’re still happy with it. It features an upscale interior, powerful engine options, and is plenty capable off road. A new offering from Land Rover is up next, called the Discovery Sport. This SUV still offers plenty of performance despite its stylish trimmings. The Discovery Sport might not be quite as rugged as other Rovers, but its family-oriented appeal can’t be denied. The Infiniti QX80 marks the number three spot on our list, with its domineering full-size luxury footprint, riding high on a recent refresh. The interior and exterior got some styling revisions, and it’s still powered by a 5.6-liter V8. Ford debuted the latest version of the Explorer at the show. It offers a revised exterior with redesigned headlights, a new Platinum trim level with plenty of features, and a 2.3-liter EcoBoost powerplant. The fully updated Cadillac Escalade rounds out the Fab Five SUVs, thanks to its ability to transport up to eight passengers in characteristic Cadillac luxury.
