What is a Combination Car Seat?

Combination seats, sometimes called booster high-back seats, are named for their ability to combine front-facing harnessed seating for smaller children and, after taking out the harness, turn into high back and even no-back boosters for bigger kids.

Some versions of this type of seat offer convenient seat belt guides that keep the belt secured in the correct place on the shoulder, rather than allowing it to creep up to the child's neck. 

Another example for seating a child in the back seat is called a safety vest or harness system. This device is sometimes used in cases when a person wants to seat multiple children in the back seat, but the car cannot accommodate 3 seats across. These harness systems can also be used when you have an older car that only has lap belts since it has a top tether.

As with all child safety seats, it's very important to read the manufacturer's manual to know exactly how each of the combined uses of a combination seat should be secured.
