There are almost always rebates and incentives to be found on pickup trucks from each major automaker. There are a number of reasons for this state of affairs – on some occasions, fuel prices are high enough that pickup truck sales are temporarily slowed, or sometimes certain models start to stack up in inventory, meaning that price cuts are needed to move metal off of the lot. It’s also important to understand that pickup truck incentives are typically more focused than other types of rebates, with only specific models or body styles qualifying for advertised cash back offers or financing deals.
Let’s take a look at 10 of the best pickup truck rebates and incentives that are currently available.
The 2010 GMC Sierra Extended Cab and Crew Cab full-size pickup trucks each offer seating for as many as six occupants thanks to their stretched passenger compartment. Extended Cab models provide half doors that hinge from the rear, while Crew Cab editions of the Sierra introduce full-size rear doors in order to make it easier to enter and exit the vehicle’s cabin. Bed lengths range from 5-feet, 8-inches on to 8-feet for the Extended Cab, while the Crew Cab is restricted to short bed only. A V-6 engine (195 horsepower, 18 miles per gallon combined) is the entry-level engine for the GMC Sierra, while a 295 horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8 and a 315 horsepower, 5.3-liter eight-cylinder are also available. Transmission choices include four and six-speed automatics, and four-wheel drive can be had with any version of the pickup truck.
The 2010 GMC Sierra Extended Cab and Crew Cab pickup trucks are available with a cash back rebate of $5,000 or a 0.0% financing incentive until 01/03/2011.
The 2010 Ford F-150 Super Cab and Super Crew XLT trucks offer bigger interior room than a traditional pickup, with as many as six passengers fitting into their extended platforms. A 6.5-foot bed or an 8-foot can be matched with the Super Cab and its rear-opening doors, while the Super Crew’s larger rear doors require the selection of the 6.5-footer or a smaller 5.5-foot cargo bed. The XLT’s equipment level includes air conditioning, cruise control and power windows and door locks, and buyers can choose between a number of powertrains.
Two editions of the company’s 4.6-liter V-8 are available (generating 248 and 292 horsepower, respectively) and the option of a 5.4-liter V-8 that churns out 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. Fuel mileage hovers just under 20 miles per gallon on the highway for V-8 equipped trucks, and like the Sierra four-speed and six-speed automatic transmissions are the order of the day. Optional four-wheel drive is also available.
The 2010 Ford F-150 Super Cab / Super Crew XLT pickup trucks are available with a cash back rebate of $5,500 or a 0.0% financing incentive that includes $2,000 in cash back until 01/03/2011.
The 2010 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab and Extended Cab pickups are mechanical twins to the GMC Sierra models that are also offering solid deals this month. Bed length choices and cabin sizes remain the same, as do the engine choices – one V-6 and two different V-8s. What does change is the exterior styling, as the 2010 Chevrolet Silverado offers a different take on the pickup truck theme that is somewhat more utilitarian than that found on GMC models. In general, the Chevrolet Silverado is also less pricey than the GMC offering, although the top of the line LTZ model can definitely be loaded up with options and gear such as dual automatic climate control, available heated leather seats and a navigation system.

The Crewmax comes with a 5.5-foot cargo box and standard four-wheel drive, and buyers can also choose between a 4.6-liter V-8 (310 horsepower) and a 5.7-liter V-8 (381 horsepower). The latter also generates 401 lb-ft of torque, is good for 18 miles per gallon on the highway and can run on Flex Fuel. Both engines are matched with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Crew Cab model offers spacious seating for as many as six occupants, and it is matched with a 5-foot, 7-inch cargo bed. The Ram also makes use of a rear coil spring suspension system that manages to give the vehicle a more composed ride without sacrificing any payload of towing capacity versus the competition. The Ram Crew Cab starts out with a 4.7-liter V-8 as its base engine (good for 302 horsepower), but it can be upgraded to a 390 horsepower, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 that also generates 407 lb-ft of torque. At the other end of the scale is the ZQ8 Sport Suspension package that lowers the pickup and adds 18-inch wheels wrapped in high performance rubber. Engine choices include a 2.9-liter four-cylinder unit (185 horsepower), a 3.7-liter five-cylinder (242 horsepower) and a 5.3-liter V-8 (300 horsepower). The Ranger can be ordered in a stripped down, value-oriented edition or it can be dressed up with niceties such as power windows and door locks, nicer rims, upgraded shocks and a CD player. The entry-level engine in the Ranger is a 143 horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder (that returns 23 miles per gallon in combined fuel mileage), which slots in just below the available 207 horsepower, 4.0-liter V-6. The 2011 Toyota Tacoma is a popular mid-size alternative to larger full-size trucks. Like its bigger cousin, the Tundra, the Tacoma comes in Regular, extended (Access Cab) and crew (Double Cab) body styles. Those interested in regularly transporting more than a few passengers would be wise to opt for the Double Cab and its four full-sized doors. Bed lengths are split into five and six-foot options. The Tacoma provides a number of different trim levels – some aimed at the street, and others targeted at all-terrain enthusiasts – as well as standard pickup truck options such as four-wheel drive. A 2.7-liter, 159 horsepower four-cylinder engine starts the ball rolling for the Tacoma, and it is joined by an available 4.0-liter V-6 that turns in a 236 horsepower performance. The smaller engine offers a four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual as its transmission choices, while the V-6 adds an additional forward gear to each of those gearbox options.
