Audi S6 Video Road Test & Review

The Audi S6 is the high performance edition of the German automaker's mid-size A6 luxury sedan.  The Audi S6 combines better acceleration and handling with a revised exterior appearance package in order to appeal to buyers interested in more than just a comfortable ride.  The S6, which has been completely redesigned for the current model year, also features front knee airbags, seat-mounted side airbags for those riding in the first two positions, dual forward airbags, and side curtain airbags that deploy along the entire length of the passenger compartment.  A stability control system and traction control are also offered with the S6, as is parking assistance.

The Audi S6 barges onto the scene with a 4.0-liter V-8 as its sole available power plant.  Capable of producing 420 horses and 406 lb-ft of torque thanks to the judicious application of twin turbochargers, the S6's standard quattro all-wheel drive ensures that it never wants for traction.  Fuel mileage for the Audi sedan is relatively reasonable given its output, showing as 17-mpg in city driving and 27-mpg during highway cruising, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission is the only availabel gearbox for the automobile.

The Audi S6 (MSRP $71,900) comes with adaptive HID headlights, a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, a rearview camera, the Audi Drive Select system, an adaptive air suspension, Bluetooth, four zones of automatic climate control, heated sport seats up front (with power adjustment) the Audi Connect internet system, and a navigation system.  A long list of options packages can be tacked on to the S6's build sheet, including the Driver Assistance package (adaptive cruise control, power folding mirrors, blind spot monitoring, forward collision detection), the Innovation package (adaptive cruise control, the contents of the Driver Assistance package, lane departure warning, a head-up displace, night vision), and the Comfort Seating package (massaging seats).  Heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel can also be installed by way of the Cold Weather package.
