2015 Chrysler 200 Honored for a Ward's-winning Interior

With the hopes and dreams of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles riding on its mid-size frame, the 2015 Chrysler 200 recently scored a fairly impressive honor from Ward'sAuto World: The stylish new 200 was named to the 2014 Ward's 10 Best Interiors list alongside such up-scale entries as the Rolls-Royce Wraith. According to the publication's editor-in-chief, Drew Winter: “Designers paid extraordinary attention to detail in the new Chrysler 200C interior design and it shows," with a particular highlight being "Specially engineered wood veneer [that] sweeps across the instrument panel and has a wonderful natural feel."

Now, just to be clear, the Ward's trophy went to the range-topping 2015 Chrysler 200C, but it's important to note that, although the model's MSRP is well above the $21,700 starting point of the 200 lineup, Ward's writer Tim Murphy still noted: "Perhaps the greatest single attribute of the up-level 200C tested is its price point."

Of course, he did manage to find a few other highlights of the car's cabin, including:

• "Lovely ambient lighting"
• "Attractive brightwork"
• "An ergonomically ideal-angled center console"
• "A standout 1-piece matte-finish wood veneer that frames the steering column, instrument cluster and center stack and also dresses up the door panel"

The 2015 Chrysler 200C then builds on those premium appointments, per the publication, with "extremely spacious" interior dimensions and a high level of technology.

Joining the 2015 Chrysler 200 on this year's 10 Best Interiors roster was the new Jeep Cherokee, giving the Chrysler Group two Ward's winners and inspiring Klaus Busse, head of Interior Design for the automaker, to explain: "While created with two different customers in mind using different themes, our teams did use the same key principles to design the all-new interiors of new Chrysler 200 and Jeep Cherokee.

"Our interior designers conceived both vehicles by first establishing an emotional design impact for both vehicles, and then used high-quality materials including state-of-the-art technology along with developing clever storage features that use the new interior space wisely. Both vehicles clearly express these principles, and we’re extremely proud that Ward’s has recognized both new interior designs.”
