It gets an EPA-estimated 51 mpg in the city, 47 mpg on the highway, and 52 mpg combined, making it an ideal car for those with long daily commutes.

The all-wheel-drive system in the Prius activates at speeds from 0-6 mph when you often need extra traction and then as needed at speeds up to 43 mph. You can get the Prius with all-wheel drive on either the LE for $27,135 or the XLE for $29,575.

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is a plug-in hybrid vehicle with seating for five people and standard all-wheel drive. It’s available in a range of three trims priced from $36,695 to $42,395. EPA-fuel economy estimates have yet to be released but expect the Outlander PHEV to post high figures with an available 24 miles of pure electric driving.

2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

The 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is a three-row SUV with seating for up to eight passengers. It’s also available with second-row captain’s chairs, bringing seating down to seven albeit with improved comfort. There’s plenty of room for cargo, with 16.0 cubic feet behind the third row, 48.4 cubic feet behind the second row, and 84.3 cubic feet behind the first row.
