When its comes to supercars, Ferrari is one of the most exclusive and legendary brands in the world. The brand goes beyond just cars, with the logo being featured on watches, clothing, shoes, and toys. Everything that Ferrari touches becomes limited, unique, and special.
Over the years, Ferrari has offered numerous limited or one-off editions of its vehicles. Some limited editions were built with a production run of as low as five units while the one-off models were built for some of the company’s most exclusive clients.
With that in mind, we decided to put together a list of the most recent and best 10 Ferrari Special and Limited Edition models. Let’s get started.
Since the debut of the Ferrari LaFerrari, the successor to the brand’s Enzo halo supercar, fans have been keeping their eye out for a convertible version. Well, Ferrari wasn’t about to just throw out any convertible version of the LaFerrari into the world so when it did, it had to be something extraordinary. With the debut of the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, the brand decided to cater to some its most passionate clients with a limited-edition run of a drop-top version of the LaFerrari. The total production run for the Ferrari LaFerrari was restricted to 209 cars at the time of launch (Sept. 2016), of which 200 were already spoken for. We’re pretty sure the remaining nine have also found a home.
Ferrari is all about celebrating the brand’s regional anniversaries. During its 50th anniversary in Japan, Ferrari released a very limited bespoke car called the Ferrari J50. The J50 is based on the Ferrari 488 Spider and was built by the company’s Special Projects department and designed by its styling center in Maranello. Only ten units of the Ferrari J50 will be built and each unit will be tailored to each owner’s requirements. Power for the Ferrari J50 comes from a 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine making 680 hp.
Pininfarina and Ferrari have a been in a relationship since at least 1951. To honor Sergio Pininfarina, with whom Enzo Ferrari created one of the most successful design partnerships in history, Ferrari created a limited-edition supercar based on the 458 Spider. Power for the Ferrari Sergio comes from a 4.5-liter V8 engine that pumps out a total of 597 hp allowing it to run from 0 to 62 mph in just three seconds flat. Only six units of the Ferrari Sergio are to be made. The first one was already delivered at launch to a customer in the United Arab Emirates at a special event at the company’s Yas Marina Circuit.

Ferrari has a long history of creating one-off supercars for its most elite clients. Recently, Ferrari created a one-off model called the F12 TRS, which was developed due to a client’s request for an extreme open-top version of the F12berlinetta. The Ferrari F12 TRS is powered by a 730-hp 6.3-liter V12 engine that propels it from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and to 100 mph in just 7.1 seconds. While we don’t know the price tag of this extremely exclusive F12 Berlinetta, we’re pretty sure it cost a pretty penny.

Yes, Ferrari has some of the world’s most popular celebrities as its clients and when a request comes in from one of them, Ferrari goes above and beyond. The Ferrari SP12 EC is a one-off supercar that was created for musician Eric Clapton who himself is a pretty big Ferrari enthusiast. The car was designed by the Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina and the engineers from Maranello. The SP12 EC pays homage to the Berlinetta Boxers of yore — both 365 and 512 — and is based on the 458 Italia. The car cost $4.7 million to build, which we’re pretty sure wasn’t a problem for Eric Clapton who is an 11-time Grammy-winning artist.

The Ferrari P540 Superfast Aperta is a result of Ferrari and Pininfarina’s Special Projects program. The one-off model was built exclusively for an American client. Wondering who this American client is? His name is Edward Walson, son of John Walson, the inventor of cable TV. Walson approached Ferrari in 2008 to make him a reinterpretation of the gold Carrozzeria Fantuzzi-designed Ferrari built specifically for the 1968 Fellini film. Of course, Ferrari didn’t deny Walson’s request and that gave birth to this golden P540 Superfast Apart. While money can’t buy you happiness, it sure can buy you an exclusive golden Ferrari.

When Ferrari’s special program team isn’t busy catering to celebrities or other rich clients, the brand focused on celebrating its own history. Meet the Ferrari 458 Speciale A. No the “A” doesn’t stand for “awesome” or “amazing” - it stands for "Aperta," which is Italian for “open." Ferrari says that the 458 Speciale A is a limited-edition model that celebrates the success of the various versions of the 458. Only units of the Ferrari 458 Speciale A are in existence and each is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine that produces a total of 597 hp. It seems like the world still can’t get enough of the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is definitely one of the best-looking Ferraris ever made.

Ferrari produced a couple of limited and special editions of the 458 since it was one of the most successful supercars the company’s ever built. Meet the Ferrari 458 MM Speciale. The model is a one-off creation that debuted at the Fiorano circuit by the company’s chief test driver Dario Benuzzi. The car was built for a British owner who was looking for “extremely sporty lines and specified a 'visor' effect for the glasshouse.” While some other one-off models are designed and created in partnership with Pininfarina, the Ferrari 458 MM Speciale was designed entirely in-house by the company’s own team. Based on the Ferrari 458 Speciale, this one-off model is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine that throws out an amazing 597 hp. 0 to 60 mph comes in just three seconds flat and the top speed comes in around 200 mph.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary in North America, Ferrari built the extremely exclusive F60 America. Only ten units of the Ferrari F60 America were made, and all of them already had an owner before the car was revealed to the public. Unveiled at the anniversary celebration gala dinner at Beverly Hills City Hall, Ferrari announced that the model had a going price of an outstanding $2.5 million. Keep in mind, that price tag is ten times that of the $320,000 price tag of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Each model was powered by 730-hp V12 engine that pushed this open-top supercar from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds. Tipping the hat to old racing Ferrari vehicles, the interior of the F60 America features red trim on the driver seat and upholstery while the passenger’s are in black.

Touring Superleggera made some big noise at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show with their version of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The Touring Berlinetta Lusso pays tribute to the legacy introduced by Touring Superleggera on the iconic Ferrari 166 MM, the first series-produced Ferrari. The model is powered by a 740-hp V12 engine that pushes this beauty from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds with a top speed of 211 mph. Only five units of this special-edition Ferrari were produced and Ferrari said that the pricing was based on the demand for the car.
