There was a time when an infotainment system was a simple thing that consisted of nothing more than a radio with AM and FM buttons. These days, they’re complex and include touchscreens along with buttons and a wide range of features to keep us connected and entertained no matter where we roam. It’s great having all this technology in our cars, but it’s also confusing figuring out which features are the best and which systems are the easiest to use. Here are 10 cars with the best infotainment systems.
The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta compact sedan is all-new with a freshly updated design and new features. Every Jetta includes Volkswagen’s Car-Net App Connect with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink for seamless smartphone integration. A 6.5-inch color touchscreen, a four-speaker audio system, one USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity are also standard. Higher trims offer an 8-inch color touchscreen with navigation and Sirius XM with a three-month trial subscription. Volkswagen Car-Net Security and Service, which includes remote vehicle access, accident assistance with automatic crash notification, and “family guardian” with speed and boundary alert, is available with a 6-month trial subscription. Finally, Volkswagen Car-Net Guide and Inform with SiriusXM Travel Link and SiriusXM Traffic is available with a three-month trial subscription. Pricing ranges from $18,545 to $26,945.

The 2018 Subaru Legacy mid-size sedan comes with standard all-wheel drive and the capability that makes Subarus a favorite for those with an active lifestyle. It also has a full-featured infotainment system. This year there’s a redesigned instrument panel that includes either a 6.5-inch or 8-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Base trims have a four-speaker audio system with AM/FM and Bluetooth connectivity and the 6.5-inch screen. Available features include the 8-inch touchscreen with a CD player, a six-speaker audio system, near-field communication for easy smartphone connectivity, SiriusXM, and navigation. Top trims also have a Harman Kardon 12-speaker audio system and expanded Starlink apps. Pricing ranges from $22,195 to $32,805.

The 2018 Genesis G80 full-size sedan is a part of the new Genesis luxury brand from the folks at Hyundai. It’s a true luxury contender without the luxury price. It has a fully featured infotainment system with a standard 8-inch color touchscreen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 17-speaker Lexicon surround-sound system. That large screen matches up with what other automakers offer only on their top trims. In the G80, the upgraded screen is a generous 9.2 inches and includes a 17-speaker Lexicon audio system with Quantum Logic surround sound and Clari-Fi technology for a premium experience. The G80 is priced from $41,750 to $59,500.

The 2018 Volvo S90 sits at the top of the Volvo sedan lineup with beautiful styling and a large 9-inch touchscreen as a standard feature. It includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM, and a six-month trial subscription to Sensus Connect with its selection of in-car apps. There’s also a four-year complimentary subscription to Volvo On Call, which allows for remote vehicle access, roadside assistance, and vehicle tracking from your smartphone. Standard audio includes a 10-speaker audio system with 224 watts. There’s also an optional Bowers & and Wilkins premium sound system with 19 speakers and 1400 watts available across the lineup, even on the base trim. The S90 is priced from $48,100 to $58,600.

The 2018 Dodge Charger large sedan features Chrysler’s Uconnect infotainment system, which is one of the easiest to learn and most intuitive infotainment systems available today. It includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a standard 7-inch touchscreen and a six-speaker audio system. A 10-speaker Beats Audio system and 19-speaker GreenEdge Harman Kardon audio system are optional on higher trim levels. There are also upgraded versions of the Uconnect system that add an 8.4-inch touchscreen and features that include navigation, SiriusXM, CD/DVD/MP3, and Bluetooth with voice commands. The wide range of available trims starts with the base SXT at $28,995 and tops out with the powerful SRT Hellcat priced at $67,995.

The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu mid-size sedan offers numerous features that make its infotainment system appealing. All but the base model features Chevrolet MyLink with either a 7-inch or 8-inch color touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming audio, and one USB port. There’s standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity and a six-speaker audio system, while higher trims bring a nine-speaker Bose audio system. Upgrades include navigation and SiriusXM with a three-month trial subscription. There’s also the myChevrolet Mobile app that allows for remote vehicle access. Features include stopping and starting the engine, locking and unlocking the doors, diagnostic information, and the ability to send navigation information directly to the car from your smartphone. Pricing ranges from $22,555 to $31,895.

The 2018 Nissan Maxima premium mid-size sedan comes standard with the NissanConnect infotainment that includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, AM/FM/CD, and an 8-inch touchscreen on every trim. That large screen makes even the base model appealing. Every Maxima also includes SiriusXM radio, live traffic, and Travel Link, available through subscription plans. An eight-speaker audio system is standard, but higher trims include an upgraded 11-speaker Bose premium audio system. The greatest connectivity is found on the top Maxima Platinum model, which adds automatic collision notification, remote start via smartphone, emergency call, and stolen vehicle locating. Pricing ranges from $33,270 to $40,940.

The 2018 Hyundai Sonata is an affordable mid-size sedan with an easy-to-use infotainment system. It includes a standard 7-inch color touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system with AM/FM/MP3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth hands-free connectivity. All but the base SE trim have standard HD radio and SiriusXM satellite radio. The top Limited trip adds an optional 8-inch touchscreen with navigation and an available eight-speaker, 400-watt Infinity sound system with a subwoofer and an external amplifier. The Sonata’s pricing further adds to its appeal. The base SE starts at only $22,050 while the Limited comes in at a still-affordable $31,900.

The Honda Accord mid-size sedan is newly redesigned for the 2018 model year with all-new exterior and interior styling and a great infotainment system. The base model includes a 7-inch screen and a four-speaker audio system with Bluetooth streaming, but move just one step up from the base model and things get more interesting. An 8-inch customizable color touchscreen, an eight-speaker audio system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto all become standard once you move up from the base trim. Continuing on up through the trim range, you’ll also find SiriusXM, HD radio, a 10-speaker audio system, navigation with voice recognition, and Honda HD digital traffic. Select trims also have mobile hotspot connectivity and HondaLink subscription services. Pricing ranges from $23,570 to $33,800.

The 2018 Audi RS 5 is a sporty coupe with Audi’s MMI infotainment system. It has a 7-inch full-color display with a rotary dial interface on the center console. A 10-speaker 180-watt audio system is standard with a CD player, HD radio, and SiriusXM with a 90-day trial subscription. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard features. Choose the optional navigation package and the screen grows to 8.3 inches with MMI Touch handwriting recognition. There’s also a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as a part of Audi’s “virtual cockpit” display. It presents vehicle information and can be customized to include navigation and audio, putting everything you need front and center. Pricing on the RS 5 coupe starts at $69,900.
