2023 Dodge Charger ・ Photo by Dodge
The 2023 Dodge Charger Swinger Special Edition is part of the long goodbye to the Charger badge. This is the last year of production for the iconic muscle car along with its two-door cousin, the Challenger. To mark the occasion, Dodge released seven special edition builds that are tributes to Dodge’s long history. Here are the 10 best features of the 2023 Dodge Charger Swinger Special Edition.
The Dodge Charger and Challenger are ending their runs for the 2023 model year, and Dodge is sending them off in style with Last Call. This run of seven special-edition models brings back heritage colors like B5 Blue and Subline Green as well as styling nods to the brand’s history.
Each Last Call vehicle has a special commemorative brushed aluminum badge under the hood featuring the vehicle name and silhouette. The badge also says, “Designed in Auburn Hills” and “Assembled in Brampton” acknowledging the car’s origins. Last Call vehicles let muscle car enthusiasts recognize the end of production with unique versions of these iconic cars.

The Dodge Charger has always been available in eye-catching colors. This isn’t a car that’s mild-mannered or demure, but an in-your-face muscle car that screams for attention. So, Dodge gave it brilliant colors with oranges, purples, reds, and greens all a part of the assortment.
The Swinger takes its color cues from the '70s with a special green appearance package. It includes a choice of either F8 Green, Subline Green, or White Knuckle if those colors are too bold. This is accented by Gold School wheels and badging, and green Swinger graphics. The Dodge Charger Swinger is a standout option that takes you back to the '70s in groovy style.

There are a wide range of Dodge Charger trims available in the model lineup with varying levels of interior amenities. The Swinger Special Edition gets an upscale interior with premium materials and, of course, unique accents that are exclusive to the Swinger.
There are aluminum bezels along with Nappa leather and Alcantara surfaces on the sports seats. Those seats are accented with green stitching that also adorns the steering wheel, door panels, and dashboard. The seatbacks sport the Dodge logo and there’s a Swinger badge on the passenger side dashboard to finish off the look.

The Scat Pack Widebody package is a standard feature on the Swinger Limited Edition. It enhances the Charger’s appearance with an extra 3.5 inches of width thanks to aggressive fender flares. Combined with the Gold School 20-inch wheels, it makes a heck of a first impression. There are also performance upgrades that come as a part of this package.
These include an adaptive damping suspension system, Pirelli all-season performance tires, Brembo 6-piston fixed front brake calipers, widebody competition suspension, and all-speed traction control. There’s also a performance shift indicator and flat-bottom steering wheel. This package adds extra style and improved performance to the Charger.

The Dodge Charger Swinger is a special edition with colors, trims, and graphics that you won’t find on the rest of the Charger lineup. That alone is enough to make it something special, but Dodge went a step further. It made a limited run of both the Charger and Challenger Swinger to make it even more exclusive and unique.
There are only 1,000 each of the Charger and Challenger Swinger, both of which are widebody models which take already impressive, bold cars and make them even more aggressive. These muscle cars have a rich history with legions of collectors. Having a version of the Charger that is part of its final production run and is available in only a small number of units makes it truly unique and something for enthusiasts to treasure.

Power for the Dodge Charger Swinger comes from a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It gives you 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque for aggressive acceleration. This just wouldn’t be a Charger if it was anything less than powerful. Press the gas and it delivers instant acceleration with a rumble of engine noise and loud exhaust.
In some cars, you don’t want to hear the sound of the engine, but this is a Charger. Not only do you hear the engine, you feel it, with a low bass rumble that lets you know you’re driving a true muscle car. If you need a bit of extra speed to pass slower cars on the highway, the Charger delivers. There’s no shortage of performance in this sedan.

This isn’t a feature you can use every day, as much as you might want to, but it is one that lets you fully take advantage of the Charger’s performance chops. It’s designed to give you maximum acceleration instantly. It minimizes wheel spin and hop while maximizing torque and throttle. It also helps reduce the chances of over-revving the engine and overheating the transmission.
Launch control is a standard feature in the Dodge Charger Swinger, and it’s simple to use. It activates at the press of a button and then walks you through the steps to launch your Charger. There’s nothing practical or necessary about launch control and it’s best reserved for use only on a track or closed course. When you have that chance, take it.

The Dodge Charger starts at an affordable $34,230, but that’s for the base trim. The lineup tops out with the SRT Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak, which has a price of $91,250. That puts top trims up in luxury car territory and makes them hard on your budget. Rather than making the Swinger an even more exclusive trim, Dodge kept it priced toward the middle.
The base price for the 2023 Dodge Charger Swinger Special Edition is $63,260. It’s not the most affordable option in the Charger lineup, but it doesn’t have the same high pricing found in the Hellcat. It also comes well-equipped at that price with all the unique Swinger enhancements and plenty of standard technology and comfort features.

The Dodge Charger is a muscle car, which means it has performance in spades. It’s also a sedan, which means it’s a vehicle designed to carry a full load of people. Yes, you can use this as a family car if the idea of a minivan makes you cringe. It’s not every day that a limited-edition muscle car pulls up in the school pickup line, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
There’s seating for five with heavily bolstered front seats that keep you firmly in place during more spirited driving. The back seats hold three adults with good legroom and headroom, even for those who are taller, although three get tight for a longer trip, as it does in any sedan. Two adults, or two kids, will have few complaints about having enough space to spread out on a road trip, and there’s even a roomy trunk to hold everyone’s luggage.

The Dodge Charger Swinger has a long list of features from technology to appearance to safety that are a part of several packages that are standard on all versions of the Swinger. The Plus group, which has appearance enhancements including black-edged floor mats and a stitched dash panel, also adds blind-spot and rear cross-traffic alert.
The Technology group adds even more features. These include advanced brake-assist, lane-departure warning plus, automatic high beam headlamps, full-speed forward collision warning plus, and adaptive cruise control with stop. It’s a comprehensive offering of safety features that doesn’t require spending more on optional packages.
